Your Mission – should you choose to accept it.
Talk about a loaded statement… Those guys in Mission Impossible ALWAYS chose to accept the mission. Always. How about us?
Seriously, if I was given the option to choose NOT to fight terrorists and jump out of airplanes and get beat up……. I’d pass. I choose chips and salsa.
Love God, Share Jesus, Serve Humbly… your mission, should you choose to accept it…
Ok, these are just words. But there is something behind it that carries a much heavier weight: the Body of Christ and what we believe about it. Do we believe the Body of Christ has a purpose here on earth?
If yes – we MUST accept the mission (whichever words you use) and we MUST do.
If no – we look just like the rest of the unbelieving world and having nothing special to offer.
I don’t believe that. I believe we have THE something to offer the world. Not just a peculiar schedule on weekends. Not just a nice smile when it’s raining. We have God the Father; Jesus Savior; and The Holy Spirit.
The Body of Christ – the Church – has been placed in motion here on earth to serve God’s plan for spreading the Word about God’s redemptive plan for mankind. That size of mission cannot be taken with a lazy spirit. The Body of Christ is not a sedentary being. Ever.
The Body of Christ does not retire. It does not take a sabbatical. It does not sleep in every other weekend. It is active and a viable force in this world. The Body of Christ is kind; Loving; Sharing; Hopeful; Peacemaking… All require intentional action.
Our call to this congregation is to Find Your Spot. Give time and resources to the ministry of THIS Body in Greenville. Children’s Ministry; Youth Ministry; Adult Education; Praise Team; Scripture Reading; Missions; Evangelism; Fellowship Events; Coffee Stop; Bread of Life; Visitation; Prayer Ministry; Inside Building Care; Outside Grounds Care; Security Team.
These are our Spots. These are the places we need members installed to serve big.
Find YOUR Spot – that is your mission, should you choose to accept it.
Philippians 2: 1 – 5 Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate?2Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.3Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.4Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.5You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.
